The name of the episode is a reference to the sci-fi movie "The Day the Earth Stood Still".
In this episode Homer Simpson is not pleased with his image and he whats a younger and hipper one. An so, he starts to socialize with his cool new neighbors from Portland, OR, named Terrence and Emily.
Marge does not agree with Terrence and Emily's trendy parenting methods, being to extreme for her.
Bart quickly realizes their son, T-Rex, is super-pretentious.
